AFI Teacher dismissed.
I, Betty Hassen, teacher, web site administrator, course coordinator and elected committee member for over 10 years, am to be dismissed from AFI.

I became aware of this, when I received Committee Minutes of a meeting, in which I was an apology.
 

The Minutes' Agenda had ONE ITEM only.
ITEM 1 :  Discussion re response and resistance by Betty Hassen to the survey 
               designed by Catherine Thornberry. (There were no details of what that
                meant or referred to.)
It then continued with my name posted and defamed with remarks such as: the following, all commencing with 'Betty Hassen...) My name appeared 14 times in those Minutes. Some of the blasphemous comments were:
1 "not supporting the workings of AFI"

2  "being insulting. demeaning and arrogant towards Geoff Galagher. 

3  "That I hindered students" (from doing what .it does not say)

4  :"I am uncooperative" AND THEN

5    a decision will be made that that "Betty is not regarded as an ex-officio

      member of the Alliance Francaise

I responded immediately in writing, demanding a redaction of the Minutes because it contained blasphemous, untrue and denigrating remarks about me as a person and a teacher.

The "so called" President Rita Thakur, instantly replied with more insults viz
6"That I was wasting the valuable time of the Committee and wasting the time of THE PRESIDENT

7 "I was not a Team Player"

8 "I didn't comply with committee decisions"

9. "that 'I COMPLAINED"

I have distributed documents to AF Canberra, and they did assure met that

"There is absolutely no question of preventing you from teaching" However the situation has worsened.

The latest Minutes of 22 April, contained

Motion #3:  Proposed by President Rita Thakur, seconded by G Galagher 'That Betty Hassen not continue as member of AFI"

Therefore, I can no longer teach with my much-loved AFI that I have been with for so long

HOWEVER since my classes have paid up for the Term I will finish Term 2 in 6 weeks time.

THEREFORE I write to inform you that access to the AFI  via this site will be compromised. I will close down the website on the last day of Term 2, when I leave.  I have informed the "so called " committee to create a new website and have stated that I can leave a link here to the new site. I have had no response to date
